When you fan bam on some snazzy online ladies and love their blog, store and website it's a good moment when they agree to be interviewed to feature as playful people on this lil ol blog.
I first discovered Rose and Tanya of Ecolosophy back in early 2014, long before I knew I'd one day be living down the road from them both and I loved them straight away, I got to love them a little more when I spoke to them all about ecolosophy, their journey to where they are now, their challenges along the way and of course suss out how they play!
So what is ecolosophy? Well to make it easy for you, here is a link to this snazzy little store. In summary it's an online eco store with a heart...a big heart. Here is a snippet straight from their about page that kinda gives you the idea:
'We wanted to curate a collection of gorgeous and interesting wares that in one way or another, make our world a better place. .. There are so many clever and motivated folk crafting and creating wonderful things from the everyday to the unusual and we wanted to provide a place where you can indulge yourself in something that not only makes you feel good but is also doing some good, giving you an opportunity to make a better choice for yourself, your family, the planet and the generations to come.'
I met with Rose and Tanya and Tanya's place...AKA the Ecolosphy patch. We sat outside in the warm sunshine overlooking the Ecolosophy patch and the beautiful Lake Warden, which also is the main location that the business operates from. The 'warehouse' lives upstairs and the office is often out in the garden whilst Tanya's kids play in the sand pit or with the chooks and frogs on the property.
Make sure you read to the end... it's a long read but it's worth it!
Nope, I didn’t fall off the face of the earth.
The Play Co is still here, still doing fabulous playful things, I just haven’t been telling you about those things, and for that I am truly sorry.
I’m sorry for the ‘playful people’ interviews I conducted but have not yet transcribed or posted on the blog, the interviews were fabulous and I am very excited to bring the stories to you...they will be up, soon, I promise!
I’m sorry for not sharing with you what we have been up to over at The Play Co HQ and...
I’m sorry I have neglected you and my little website.
But I am not sorry too, because for all of the things I didn’t quiet get to, there were a gazzillion others I did get the honour to be a part of and a heap of other places my attention was focused, and whilst at times that felt hectic, on reflection it was all pretty bloody great, even the not so great bits, because…lessons learned!
Ever found yourself doing something you love, like really frickin' adore, just wading in puddles of pure bliss then all of a sudden, you're telling yourself how shit you are and how rubbish it is that you don’t make the effort to wade in your very own puddles of bliss on a regular basis?
Oh, so is that just me? Well, maybe you haven’t noticed that you do this - but I bet you have.
Just recently, on a glorious sun-shiny winters’ afternoon, my husband finished work at around 1pm - because - breakfast radio. So before we were due to pick up our monkeys from school, we made the call to drop all the ‘should-ness’ for the afternoon and take ourselves out onto the ocean for a Stand Up Paddle.
At first I was crapping myself. A little bit because of the ridiculously icy water and well...sharks - but as I paddled further along the coast I soon found my play zone.
I was wading in my puddles of bliss, even after I was bumped off my board into the aforementioned icy water.
I paddled along following the fish, feeling grateful that I took the opportunity to have a break from studying for uni exams and work and blah, blah, blah. I was in a lovely zone of loveliness.
Throughout life (if you are lucky enough) you get to have people in your world like the beautiful Ness. Ness is the epitome of ‘lovely’. She is a super talented artist and she is the most ridiculously kind person I have the pleasure of knowing... I am blessed to have her as a friend and pumped that she agreed to be interviewed for this months Playful People Profile. She is an inspiration to me and I'm sure you will just love her...almost as much as I do!
Her personal journey has had more than a fair share of shade in the light, with the loss of loved ones including her mum as a teenager, yet despite all that shade, she continues to sparkle, and her sparkling goodness, is contagious.
Ness, who lives in a beachside nook in the Perth burbs, is the Mumma of four beautiful babes (go team four kids!) who you will see funky images of over on her instagram account Four Cheeky monkeys, which by the way has a crazy huge fan base of over 13k followers! Shimmy on over and have a look at it & you will not be surprised why…her insta feed is insta-fabulous!
Not only does she juggle maintaining such a snazzy instagram feed with motherhood, she also writes - a blog and a few articles for online mags, designs kids decor including the cutest little softies, prints and fabrics and is an interior designing goddess who’s mission is to spread light and goodness and make the world a brighter, happier and more mermaid-y place to be!
We caught up over the phone, in between school pick ups, nap times and doing the dishes.
Tammy London...she is the sweeter, longer haired, bright tights wearing and stunningly beautiful (Sorry Simon, but you married her so you should know that already!) half of the South Coast Western Australian based - Simon and Tammy London.
In trying to think of an intro to this interview one word kept popping up and that word was LOVE!
Simon and Tammy London sing from a place of Love and when you watch them perform you are swept up in the energy of Love in all it's incarnations.
I spoke with the 'Tammy' half of Simon and Tammy London about creativity, life, the challenges of being a creative mumma bear doing her thing and Fat Paul :)
Tammy also embodies Love in all that she does, she is super talented, crazy generous and an all round kind - kinda girl!
Tammy London is just beautiful...to the core!
This Playful People Profile has an extra little something for you...a vid of Simon and Tammy London strutting their stuff in their little ol' local hall with their hauntingly beautiful song 'Mama'.
Now go make yourself a cuppa and settle in for a read and a listen...prepare to feel loved up people!
